Like Forbes.com stated in their ‘Top 25 Web Celeb’ the face of a celebrity is changing. It is no longer about the Rock n’ Rollers, Famous Athletes, Models, Actors or Singers that are celebrities but now Bloggers, Podcasters, YouTube Stars, are changing the face of fame.

If you watch Entertainment News (like I do) you will see there are a lot of honorable internet mentions of people, you see a lot of YouTube Stars especially, do you remember the Britney fan crying who did the video about Britney “JUST LEAVE HER ALONE!”

Also Cheryl from WAHM.com has been mentioned all over the news and radio about her work at home mom site, helping moms want to work from home with telecommuting and home based business.

PerezHilton.com made himself famous by dishing about celebrities in his blog and now you can see on VH1 and E!

Another mention is Tila Tequila, she became popular on MySpace and now has her own show on VH1 also.

John Chow, a famous Blogger had an article in Entrepreneur Magazine.

Cindy Margolis, she was a famous Internet Model and then became a real model off line. I had a little taste of my own when I was younger, when I was what was considered an ‘Internet Model’ <blush>

Forbes.com now defines this internet popularity as a Web Celeb.

“a person famous primarily for creating or appearing in Internet-based content, and for being highly recognizable to a Web-based audience. That definition excludes people who were significantly famous before they hit the Web-”

HOW CAN I GET FAMOUS??

Well after reading a few of these stories it occurred to me somethings that these people had used to gain their ‘internet celebrity’ and it had a lot to do with social media (of course). ;)

1) Social Media - YouTube, MySpace, Social Bookmarking (for Bloggers) gained popularity by Posts, Friends, Videos.

2) BE INTERESTING - If you want to have people talking about you then you obviously need to give them something to talk about! Look at Paris Hilton, what is she famous for? Not really anything. But people talked to her because she partied and well her parents were rich but she still gave the media a lot to talk about and put herself out there.

3) Talking about Celebrities - Look at the Britney Fan Crying telling everyone to leave her alone.
