I was reading through a post tonight on a forum which inspired this Post. :)

There is a lot of confusion about Direct Sales and Network Marketing. I love them both. They both are a great way to do business. But there are some major differences between the two.

Let me start with Direct Sales - Direct Sales basically is selling products. You can do home parties, product presentations at shows, catalog selling, etc…I used to be in Direct Sales when I sold AVON. Because AVON is a BIG name, it sold very well. You had the option to build a team, but it wasn’t the major way to make income with AVON. People KNOW the Product and WANT the Product of AVON.

Network Marketing is a little different. There is still a Product or Service to be sold. But it is more focused on building your team, or down line.  Network Marketing can be described as selling products through referral marketing. You are also paid on multiple levels. YTB or Your Travel Biz, a company I am involved is a Network Marketing company.

What it boils down to is what are you more comfortable doing? Recruiting or selling Products. Both types you still need sell product and/or services of the company you promote.  They are both sales businesses. If you are comfortable in sales, whether it be network marketing or direct sales, then Welcome aboard! Look for a company that suits you and get moving! If not then there are more things out there you can do :)
